This week has been very eventful so far. I have a 15 minute radio interview with a Christian station (WCGL) in Jacksonville, Florida at 2:15. I also received 2 invitations to do radio interviews with www.take12radio.com and www.recoverycoasttocoast.org I think these interviews will be in the next month or so. All of these interviews have been generated by MJ and I calling and emailing various stations to see if they are interested in sharing my message and the book with their audience. Last week nobody was responding and I started to get into some fear, but this week it has been a whole different story. This is a pretty scary adventure that is full of uncertainty. I have been forced to stay faithful and just stay focused on working hard and leaving the results up to God. I’ll share my last piece of good news from this week so far, yesterday I confirmed a trip to Lynchburg, VA to go record an interview and radio show with the president of AACC. AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors) has 50,000 members that will receive the recorded interview between the president of AACC and me. It could really make a huge impact on book sales and getting the message to some people who may really need some inspiration
Well this is a big week. It will be the first full week of promoting the book. I’m going to be contacting radio shows, rehabs, churches and civic groups to try and set up speaking engagements. So far I have 2 churches and a couple of men’s conferences that have confirmed they want me to speak. I’m going to get all of the dates nailed down this week. since last week I have sold about a 100 copies of the book to friends and family. So far so good. This week MJ and I will be spending a lot of time on the phone doing some grass roots promotion and marketing. It’s exciting to be in this phase of the process. The writing phase was much less comfortable for me. I’m at home in marketing and sales.

I’ve decided to start blogging about my adventure of being a first time author. For me this is a new and exciting journey that I hope you enjoy reading about. Soon I will write about what’s happened up to this point, but for now I’ll get started posting weekly updates. Last week I went to Austin to create the “book trailer” which is about 90 seconds. It was fun brainstorming with the publisher and PR firm to come up with the content. I’ll post the trailer that’s being created in a couple weeks. After that I went and filmed a 10 minute interview about me and the book. It was fun and a little scary. They airbrushed the make up on my face which was kind of relaxing. Then I went and sat in the studio and filmed 3 takes of the interview. We really didn’t have a script and so I had to shoot from the hip. At first it was a little scary, but I think it turned out best since it wasn’t rehearsed. I also went to a mixer and it was odd being introduced as an author and public speaker. I never dreamed that this is the path God would lead me down. I’m really excited and a little nervous about how it’s all going to turn out. The books finally arrived on 11-11-09 and I sent an email to all my friends and family. I was amazed at all the positive response and all of the people who purchased the book. It’s very flattering to have people show such interest.
